“When I Grow Up”
An A-Z Poem Book
for Children and their Dreams
This book was a culmination of LeAnn’s
efforts to allow her kindergarten class to be
lead actors in a skit presented to their elementary
school peers, parents, grandparents & family at the
close of their school year. Dressed in costumes of
favorite characters on stage, they perceive a vision
of adults in the real world around them.
Throughout the year, they move from vivid
pictures to words, the power of words to stories,
and imaginary stories to an awareness of self.
When successful with each child, LeAnn creates a vision
of a productive adult in hearts and minds,
as a role to be played in a very complex
society we call America.
